Dixie Diamond (DDM CONCUT) is a concrete blade manufacturer based out of Atlanta, Georgia. The new "Roadrunner" blade needed to resemble the roadrunner bird, but also not resemble the one from Looney Tunes. Other than wanting it to look like a bird they were pretty open with the design - however there were a couple of other considerations. This logo would be printed on thousands of blades and they needed it to be a single color - that, and they asked that the bird somehow incorporates a speedy blade. After researching roadrunner birds and concrete saw blades for a while, I took to sketching out a few ideas. The final version was made in Illustrator. Since then the logo has appeared on hats, polo shirts and was a featured exhibit at the annual World of Concrete event in Las Vegas, Nevada.
